Its the rainy season! We yearn for the smell of the wet mud and the cool wind. While most of us enjoy sitting at the window pane enjoying that cup of hot chocolate, some unlucky fellas need to travel all the way to their respective office and college. Potholes, overflowing water, increasing humidity, acidic rain, sticky muck leads to frizzy hair, split ends, skin infections and diseases. So, how do you prevent yourself from getting infected?

We are crowdsourcing the rainy day beauty essentials that one can include in their daily routine during the monsoons. So let us know by commenting below, tweeting to us or by posting on our Facebook page!! Not only are we going to include your beauty essential but we will credit you too! So gather all your home made face pack recipes and beauty products and write to us! Last date to submit your entries: 16th June, 2013.

The six yard unstitched fabric looks elegant and sensual when draped on a lady.

An Indian saree has undergone the test of time. But, there’s a flattering twist to the modern era saree. With sarees becoming more contemporary, quirky and lighter, we no longer see the quintessential plain saree with an attractive border. Designers are experimenting with prints and vibrant colors. We love Yogesh Chaudhary’s Pacman print and Masaba Gupta’s shutterbug chic and lipstick blot print.Apart from the six yards, designers are opting for jackets and knitted tops instead of the prototypical blouse.

But, today is not a quirky day! It’s the wedding season and the quintessential saree works wonders! Consequently, I almost received a marriage proposal! Being a modern woman, this very saree helped me transit between the contemporary and ethnic society.

Since, the saree was simple, I chose to do a smokey eye effect with a winged eye liner and red lips(which has worn out due to the amount of food and drinks).

I have always had an inborn ability to take a pair of scissors and cut out old apparel. Unused clothing intimidates me to take up a pair of scissor and upcycle it into a beauty! A few weeks back, my mother asked me if she could use my old lab coat to clean the windowsills with it. Hence, I thought of upcycling my lab coat. You can wear the crop top with printed skinny tights or pair it with with ripped denim jeans.

Today, we transform a lab coat into a cropped t-shirt.

  1. Cut your labcoat or a shirt along the dotted lines. I decided to try a high-low asymmetrical top since its awkward for a few of us to flaunt our tummy.

2. Now, to enhance your cropped tee, start STUDDING! Start with laying down your studs on the pocket. Heart or a Star? Well, the decision is yours! 🙂collage13

3. Next, glue some colorful gems to your shirt collar.

Isn’t it easy peasy? You can also dye the crop top for an ombre look.

I love Accessories from Aldo but I prefer not to spend thousands of rupees on a necklace. Upon seeing this geometric necklace, It led me to take inspiration and recreate this piece of jewelry.  It’s simple, easy and quick. Citizenkay teaches you to make it in 4 simple steps. The Final Beauty. Wear it over a black dress or on a blazer. It’s perfect for a summer day or night.

Bangs are back with a bang this season. They never really went away but have changed with the New Year.

For those, who don’t want to cut the length of their hair and want a makeover, bangs are the perfect way to go..It goes without saying that bangs are perfect for hair shoulder length or longer, particularly when hair is naturally straight.

Wear it with a straight cut to fall on your eyebrows or swept haphazardly with a little peek-a-boo curtain like Priyanka Chopra or Chitrangada Singh . And if you’re leaning towards something a bit more romantic, side swept bangs are surely worth giving a try.

From Hollywood to Bollywood, bangs have become a favorite with all the A-listers.

Here’s look at all the bang lovers..

February is universally celebrated as the month of love. But is it only about that? A sudden nip in the air forced Citizenkay to get out her lazy unkempt bed and bask in the glory of a soothing sunday afternoon wearing the best she has in her wardrobe. Notice the colours; a deep hue of burgundy and a happy dash of citrus-sy orangy red. Don’t these colours make you happy? Kay kept the accessories minimal as the vibrant colours speak for themselves. Gone are the days when the season of love was only celebrated with RED. Citizenkay advises to go that extra mile and experiment with happy, cheerful colours.  Make it worthwhile, live, hug, kiss and most importantly love:)

Citizenkay has fallen in love with Net – from sweetly pretty day dresses to sensual see-through gowns and blouses.  The net fabric is staging a comeback.  It is a trend that dared to bare and won. From net sleeves on party wear salwars to chiffon sleeves, they have had a wide presence for the last 2 years. The popularity of the sleeves arises from the fact that the flimsy layer of fabric allows you to bare a hint of skin without going sleeveless and it protects you from the dust in summer and cold in chilly temperatures.

Solid black dresses with transparent black chiffon sleeves, helps hide all that flab on your arms and blends in with your body, making you look much thinner and taller.
