I can be a little biased when it comes to Lakme products. Well, for one reason, the first ever product that I used as a teenager was the Lakme Natural Marble compact. And since then, Lakme’s quantity as well as the quality has never disappointed me!

For college days or days when I don’t feel like to dab on my lipstick, Lakme’s Rust Crush is a winner!

For someone like me who is constantly scared to experiment with bright colored lipsticks, Lakme’s Gloss stylist comes in handy.

20131124_161637

The packaging is cute and travel friendly. It comes in a transparent rectangle box with a silver metal finish.20131124_162157

What I really liked about the gloss stylist was that in spite of having a shimmery effect, it was not intense.

The one and only drawback about this product is that a single stroke doesn’t give you an opaque finish. A single stroke will give you a semi-transparent nude coverage. So, you might as well skip that nude lipstick and opt for the rust crush.

The gloss stylish lasts for about three to four hours depending on your meals.

Rating-4/5

Price- 700 rupees for 5ml. (Expensive, but worth it)

Available in other pastel colors too 🙂

Have you tried the Lakme Absolute Gloss stylist? Comment and let me know!20131124_162012

All You Wanted To Know About Trends for Autumn 2013

As we get in the autumn in many parts of the world, it is actually the time to look ahead of the spring and summer trends that seem now to be boring. Here is a close take at the trends of the autumn and all you needed to know to stay in vogue. It is pertinent to mention here that there will be soon new trends on the block from new designers. These will just give you a hint what may rule the ramp and the stores in the coming months, and what clothes online you can invest into.

Trend 1: All in white:

1_White_trends[1]

For the summers, we had all the colours to try on, and everyone seemed to love the trend of more colours and patterns. Designers for their fall collections have come up with a unique choice of white for an entire outfit, starting from head to the toe. Are you short on budget? Don’t worry, the trend will ensure that you have something to mix and match for every kind of look. The style is simple and easy to afford and ensemble.

Trend 2: Typical Patterns:

2_Typical_trends[1]

Don’t go by the word, when we say typical, we mean classic in every aspect. There are some amazing patterns that came back in the limelight, which includes large mixed prints, leopard prints, and pinstripes to name a way. Every other design that seemed to be rocking in the past is a rage in the present autumn season. Victoria Beckham was one designer who seemed to be extremely impressed with the idea for her collection.

Trend 3: Green at its best:

The colourful shades of green were looking enchanting in the collections of many designers such as Richard Chai Love and Marc Jacobs. Look for the most unobvious colours such as army green and emerald, and you will be surprised to see how it complements your skin tone and sense of fashion. Smart, elegant and truly rocking!

Trend 4: Slouchy Pants:

Avoid those cropped pants and well fitted ones for some time in the autumn as this is the season that is all about loose pants. With narrow cut and loose detailing, such pants look worth millions when pair with heels and medium sized handbags. For the top, keep the details simple. The design proved to be a jackpot in collections of designers like Prabal Gurung and Calvin Klein.

Trend 5: Unique Outerwear:

Think of Outerwear for the season in varied shapes combined with high heels. There are so many different ideas for coats with shapes and colours that can surprise any fashionista. Ideal for your weekends and casual hangouts, these kind of outwear must be at least in two different shapes in your collection. If you are looking for some inspiration, look for the collection of Marchesa and Altuzarra.

The six yard unstitched fabric looks elegant and sensual when draped on a lady.

An Indian saree has undergone the test of time. But, there’s a flattering twist to the modern era saree. With sarees becoming more contemporary, quirky and lighter, we no longer see the quintessential plain saree with an attractive border. Designers are experimenting with prints and vibrant colors. We love Yogesh Chaudhary’s Pacman print and Masaba Gupta’s shutterbug chic and lipstick blot print.Apart from the six yards, designers are opting for jackets and knitted tops instead of the prototypical blouse.

But, today is not a quirky day! It’s the wedding season and the quintessential saree works wonders! Consequently, I almost received a marriage proposal! Being a modern woman, this very saree helped me transit between the contemporary and ethnic society.

Since, the saree was simple, I chose to do a smokey eye effect with a winged eye liner and red lips(which has worn out due to the amount of food and drinks).

I kept the accessories to a minimal by wearing two gold kada’s and a gold jhumka.

I have always had an inborn ability to take a pair of scissors and cut out old apparel. Unused clothing intimidates me to take up a pair of scissor and upcycle it into a beauty! A few weeks back, my mother asked me if she could use my old lab coat to clean the windowsills with it. Hence, I thought of upcycling my lab coat. You can wear the crop top with printed skinny tights or pair it with with ripped denim jeans.

Today, we transform a lab coat into a cropped t-shirt.

20130601_170914_20130601183801375

  1. Cut your labcoat or a shirt along the dotted lines. I decided to try a high-low asymmetrical top since its awkward for a few of us to flaunt our tummy.

20130601_172050_20130601183950726This is how it should look!

2. Now, to enhance your cropped tee, start STUDDING! Start with laying down your studs on the pocket. Heart or a Star? Well, the decision is yours! 🙂collage13

3. Next, glue some colorful gems to your shirt collar.

Isn’t it easy peasy? You can also dye the crop top for an ombre look.

Do you love to wear bizarre accessories?

At Citizenkay, we believe Bizarre is Beautiful… So when Kay visited a store in Bandra.. she couldn’t resist but try every accessory over there until she saw something really unique… It was a necklace made up of hairpins! Hairpins could be a part of her daily hair-do’s that she uses every single day.. Kay wondered how someone could incorporate hairpin’s in a necklace.. She pulled out the necklace from the rack to see the price label. She couldn’t afford it.. but she still kept lusting for it..

Every time she visited that store, she couldn’t get her eyes of that necklace, she thought to herself, “A hairpin necklace? Even I can make it.I will definitely make it!” She observed every centimeter of the necklace to see how it was made and then rushed home with a grin.  Upon reaching home, she explored every nook and corner of her house to gather hairpins.. And then finally sat down to make something she wanted to wear since a long!

Every girl wants to stand out from a  huge crowd, and get all the attention wherever she goes.. Kay brings you a DIY that will definitely make heads roll!

It’s quick and easy..

Gather a black jewellery rope, some hairpins, jump ring and a lobster ring and a nail paint(optional) to color the pins.
