J’Adore L’Absolu:IMG-20130414-032241

Whether you like fruity or floral, one spritz of this fragrance will invoke the sweet smell of summer. This scent is perfect for a summer’s day. It speaks grace and romance. Close your eyes and take a whiff. Thanks to the rose and white musk that balance out a strong jasmine note, this heady scent makes you feel like you’re in a garden.

Packaging:

J’Adore is a classic but recently they have reinvented this scent by doing J’Adore L’Or and L’Absolu. The L’Absolu bottle is exactly the same as the original J’Adore. It is in a curvy bottle to represent the curvy body of a woman.

Ingredients:

When I Google’d to find its ingredients I was not surprised when I came across the results. When you open the bottle you can distinguish between the scents provided by this Dior. Its top note comprises of ylang-ylang; middle notes are tuberose, jasmine and rose; base notes are fruity notes, musk and woodsy notes.

Hypnotic Poison:hynoticpoison1

I am a huge fan of perfumes, especially the ones that infuse a strange mix of scents. I am not a girl who likes only fruity, citrus scents or even overtly sweet scents. When purchasing a perfume, I keep two basic things in mind: One being the smell and the other, the lasting power. Both, well, are clearly fulfilled by my recent buy. Strike one; good first impression.

So coming to the scent, I wanted this perfume since last year. Finally, two weeks ago, my father bought it from Singapore. Overjoyed, I took a whiff. I didn’t quite understand what exactly the scent was. It was a mixture between rust, vanilla and a strong pungent odour that cannot be described. Then I gave it another one, it was strange. Finally, I logged on to my best friend ‘Google’ to lend me some information on this weird smelling fragrance.

The perfume was originally launched in 1998 and was founded by Annick Menardo. The top notes include apricot, plum and coconut; middle notes are tuberose, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, rose, brazilian rosewood and caraway; base notes are sandalwood, almond, vanilla and musk.

To me, it was a mismatch of all these scents. Given its ingredients, it is gives it an oriental flavour to it. Though I am a fan of such scents, I didn’t quite like this one. It gives a strange rusty and almost an ointment-like odour (not scent) that lingers all day. Still, madly guilty about this pricey purchase, I gave it a second chance and wore it in the evening. No, it didn’t help, so much so that I don’t even think I will wear this one in the winters (It is a winter scent).

So finally, the red bottle is resting on my vanity block, totally untouched. Some may like it as it may smell differently on different people. For me, I would go for any Indian attar than breaking my bank for this!

The older the jeans, the better they are and Denim jeans will always be a classic.  But often, they tear up since they have not been worn frequently. My jeans were in the corner of my closet alienated from all the colorful shorts and skirts. When I cleaned my closet, I saw a huge tear on the jeans. So I decided to recycle them in a fashionable way.

At Citizenkay, we show you 3 ways to recycle your denims 🙂

1. As the weather heats up, short shorts are back in season. Cut your jeans as per your preference to make shorts.

Make a heart shaped stencil from a piece of cardboard and paint hearts with white fabric glue on your jeans.IMG-20130413-03215

After all the hearts are painted, let your shorts dry up for a minimum 3 hours. After it is completely dry, Iron it.IMG-20130413-03219

TADA!!!

2. Just like your favorite pair of jeans, denim footwear goes with just about everything. From the left over pieces of my jeans, I used denim fabric to cover my old chappals to give them a denim look 🙂

3. Citizenkay loves her accessories. She tries to make every possible necklace herself. I painted gems with nail polish and stuck it on a V-Shape denim fabric to create a statement necklace perfect for the summer months.

Summer is here. So I went to the drug store to pick up a sun block lotion and the endless shelves of bottles are astonishing. Have you ever thought, “What’s with all the different SPF numbers?” If you’re confused by what these numbers mean, you’re not alone.

What does SPF mean?

Firstly, SPF means Sun Protection Factor. These numbers refer to the product’s ability to block out the sun’s burning rays.  Sunscreens with SPF 15 filter out 93 percent of UVB Rays, SPF 30 filters out 97 percent, SPF 50 blocks 98 percent, and SPF 100 blocks 99 percent of UVB rays.

If I wear a higher SPF sunscreen will I be protected for the whole day?

If you think, wearing a sunscreen with a higher SPF number will protect your skin, you are wrong. The effectiveness of a Sunscreen depletes over the day..And you need to reapply it every 2-3 hours.

It is cloudy today. So I don’t need a sunscreen?

False!  UVB rays reach into your home too. So Sunscreen is a must!

Neutrogena, Clinique or Lakme?

Citizenkay’s top 3:

Neutrogena Ulta Sheer Dry Touch Sun Block: Hasti Kenia a loyal customer of Neutrogena since 5 years says “I prefer Neutrogena since it is smooth and non-greasy. It absorbs instantly and does not cause any breakouts.”

Price: 499 for 88 ml tube.

Clinique Solar Smart SPF 30:

The sunscreen doesn’t leave the skin feeling greasy or sticky, so you can use it on the face and the neck. Plus, it dries to an invisible, matte finish. The scent of Clinique will surely make your money worth this sunscreen.

Price:  1,350.

Lakme  SPF 24++

It is a light feel sunscreen but takes time to absorb completely and also leaves little greasiness feel on the skin when applied it in large amount. It also leaves a light white cast on the skin.

Price: 135 for 50 gms.

Final Verdict:

For everyday wear its Lakme since it feels lighter on the skin, but for days when i need foolproof sun protection- nothing can beat Neutrogena!

Bangs are back with a bang this season. They never really went away but have changed with the New Year.

For those, who don’t want to cut the length of their hair and want a makeover, bangs are the perfect way to go..It goes without saying that bangs are perfect for hair shoulder length or longer, particularly when hair is naturally straight.

Wear it with a straight cut to fall on your eyebrows or swept haphazardly with a little peek-a-boo curtain like Priyanka Chopra or Chitrangada Singh . And if you’re leaning towards something a bit more romantic, side swept bangs are surely worth giving a try.

From Hollywood to Bollywood, bangs have become a favorite with all the A-listers.

Here’s look at all the bang lovers..

February is universally celebrated as the month of love. But is it only about that? A sudden nip in the air forced Citizenkay to get out her lazy unkempt bed and bask in the glory of a soothing sunday afternoon wearing the best she has in her wardrobe. Notice the colours; a deep hue of burgundy and a happy dash of citrus-sy orangy red. Don’t these colours make you happy? Kay kept the accessories minimal as the vibrant colours speak for themselves. Gone are the days when the season of love was only celebrated with RED. Citizenkay advises to go that extra mile and experiment with happy, cheerful colours.  Make it worthwhile, live, hug, kiss and most importantly love:)

Citizenkay has fallen in love with Net – from sweetly pretty day dresses to sensual see-through gowns and blouses.  The net fabric is staging a comeback.  It is a trend that dared to bare and won. From net sleeves on party wear salwars to chiffon sleeves, they have had a wide presence for the last 2 years. The popularity of the sleeves arises from the fact that the flimsy layer of fabric allows you to bare a hint of skin without going sleeveless and it protects you from the dust in summer and cold in chilly temperatures.

Solid black dresses with transparent black chiffon sleeves, helps hide all that flab on your arms and blends in with your body, making you look much thinner and taller.
